Welcome to Canis Counselling

I am glad you are here– welcome to my online booking site!

I know it can be a bit daunting to schedule therapy appointments if you are new to the process, so there are some options to hopefully make this as convenient as possible for you. Here you can book your consultations and appointments with the clinic directly if you would prefer to do this online. If you would prefer to book another way, you can also schedule by calling the clinic directly at 780-728-6102, or emailing and I will be happy to help you!

Just so you know

  • You will be prompted to put a credit card on file when you book online. This is in case of a late cancellation or no-show for scheduled assessments or therapy sessions. If you have health insurance, you are also encouraged to enter it as well.
    • We require 24 hours notice prior to an appointment to cancel or reschedule, or you may be charged the full rate of your missed session. Life happens, so if there are unforeseen circumstances that require you to cancel with less than 24hrs notice, please contact the clinic as soon as you are able, and we’ll discuss your options.
  • Direct billing is available for many insurance plans, though individual plan coverage varies. Please double check your coverage eligibility beforehand, so we can ensure there are no surprises when it comes to coverage!
  • For Child/Teen Appointments: If you are booking for a child/teen, please put all of the appointments and consultations under the child’s name.
    • A parent/guardian consultation must be booked prior to scheduling an appointment for a minor, so we can discuss consent and relevant details.
    • Please note that I do need consent from both parents/guardians, unless there is a court order or parenting order in place, prior to completing an appointment for a minor.

Hi! My name is Paityn, and I am a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (#7072). I hold a Master’s of Science in Applied Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

For much of my career, I have worked in rural, community-based mental health settings, providing services to people in the community as a generalist. Having the opportunity to work with a number of populations in this setting, I take pride in tailoring my services to support children, teens and adults– whether individually or as families– and in connecting with people from all walks of life to meet them where they are at. I have experience working with individuals and families, ranging from children, teens and throughout every stage of adulthood. My practice is trauma-informed, and is 2SLGBTQI+ friendly. I additionally have experience working with clients with neurodiverse needs.

It is important to me to provide a safe, welcoming environment to my clients where they can feel seen without being judged. I follow a person-centred approach in my work, and apply integrative practices to collaborate with, and develop, treatment plans with my clients that best suit their individual needs. I enjoy being able to draw from evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support people in meeting their goals. My aim is always to empower my clients in building upon the skills that complement their existing strengths. In working with my clients to learn adaptive tools they can then add to their skillset– while also gaining additional insight and self awareness– we are able to open up opportunities that can drive lasting success and positive change in meaningful ways for many client’s lives.
